Dear Event Espresso,

I am evaluating WordPress plugins to make a decision this week about which plugin to use for events bookings for a charity website.

I am interested in your Events Espresso, possibly starting initially with the free decaf plugin before I advance on to more advanced features. Could you give me some guidance on whether the following will be possible with decaf, or if I need EE 3 or EE4? If EE3 or EE4 are necessary, is there a trial period for me to evaluate the plugin?

Events index page

I would like events added in the plugin to to be divided into forthcoming events and archived past events on an events index page like the above example. How could I set Event Espresso events to use this kind of page format?

Event Page

I would like the events to use a two column template like the above example, consistent with other pages on the website, with image in the left-hand column and event details and booking functions in the right-hand column.

Features

For bookings I need the following features:

1. Ability to set multiple prices for an event i.e £15 for members, £20 for non-members

2. Checkout with PayPal

3. Ability to set the number of places for an event, with events displayed as sold out when full

4. Ability to set waiting lists for full events

5. Ability for admin to add bookings manually when payments are received as cheque or cash

I hope you might give me some quick confirmations on the above.

Thanks, Richard Wilding

Hi there Richard, here is feedback on your project requirements:

1. Ability to set multiple prices for an event i.e £15 for members, £20 for non-members
2. Checkout with PayPal
3. Ability to set the number of places for an event, with events displayed as sold out when full
4. Ability to set waiting lists for full events
5. Ability for admin to add bookings manually when payments are received as
cheque or cash

By default, the single event page has a layout with the image appearing at the top of the page. However, the template could be customized to have it appear to the left of the event description.

The other requirements are met by the business support license for Event Espresso 3.

The WP User integration will allow member and non member pricing. PayPal Standard is included with Event Espresso 3. The attendee limit option can be set on a per-event basis. Wait lists are also available as part of the core plugin and event admins can manually add offline payment records to an attendee record through the WP dashboard.
