I’ve been with Event Espresso almost since I started our site. I’ve always wondered why our site seems to load so much slower than pretty much every other site on the Internet. I tried all the performance enhancements I could think of, and started to think maybe I just have a really slow web host. That may be part of it, and of course there are many factors involved in overall site speed, but I profiled my WordPress site’s performance using the P3 Plugin Performance Profiler and I wanted to share the results with you. According to this report, Event Espresso takes more time to load than all other plugins combined, more than my theme, more than anything. Is there any way to fix this? Hi, It’s expected that EE would take more time than the other plugins, because it’s a huge plugin that loads a lot of code into memory that does more than those other plugins. What we find is that if a site is slow when using Event Espresso, it’s because the site is hosted on a server that isn’t adequate for the task. I can invite you to check out a few of our demo sites, which are actually 2 of 246 sites that are part of a WordPress Multisite instance running Event Espresso network activated. All on one server. https://demoee.org/use-cases/ You’ll note that the demo sites are quite fast, and the reason they’re fast is because they’re hosted on an adequate server. The demo site is hosted on a standard Digital Ocean Ubuntu box, it’s not fancy but it works well. The way to fix a slow site is migrate it to a server that has enough resources to quickly do what’s asked of it. |
