Event Espresso in Word Press

I just updated EventEspresso to the latest version, but it will not activate since it says it requires Word Press version 4.5 or greater. Word Press, when I try to update, says I have the latest version. What should I do?

Hi there,

I checked and the site that’s attached to your support license is currently on WordPress version 4.4.2. The current version of WordPress is 4.9.6. What’s likely happened is someone has turned off core updates for your site.

Are there any plugins installed on your site that disable WordPress core updates?
