Event Espresso disables user registration

I’m not able to enable “Anyone can register” in WordPress General Settings, while Event Espresso is activated. I can deactivate it, and it works fine. But as soon as I activate it, the register button in wp-login.php disappears, and it says user registration is not enabled.

What’s happening?

UPDATE

Found out that activating event espresso (I’m using an old version, but even the updated 3.1.28.5 does not work) makes it so get_option(‘users_can_register’) returns nothing. Doesn’t return 0 or 1 as expected. I can put echo get_option(‘users_can_register’) in my functions.php file and it will display ‘1’ on the top of the page if event espresso is deactivated, and nothing if it is activated.

Sorry all. Turned out it was something in my espresso template folder.
