I’m looking to use Event Espresso to sell tickets to events (in the same way as a site like Ticketmaster or See Tickets might). I’m not talking about the complexity of either of those sites, but more the user experience or flow of a ticket purchase.
So for example
• a user sees an event they wish to buy tickets for
• they add tickets to their basket
• go to checkout and register or log in as appropriate
• complete the purchase
• receive e-ticket(s) in their email
Out of the box it seems geared specifically to conference registration making it a weird way to purchase tickets in the more traditional manner (if that makes sense!)
Are they any examples of sites that use EE in this manner or any tutorials on templating to achieve this sort of user experience?
Event Espresso is used ina variety of different circumstances beyond the theatre/conference type systems.
I’m not sure of any specific example of a box office, but you can check out the showcase.
Back to the question, the flow you are imaging is more than possible, using Multiple Event Registration (for the cart) and Ticketing (erm, for the tickets) add ons.
With a little customisation you can get the exact flow you need, for example you could have all the events listed in a table via the Custom Files add on and remove the register link just having the add to cart link.
Tickets are sent via email (it’s a link) and they can print out the ticket or download as PDF.
