Hi EE Support Team,

We use your plugin on a website that offers weekly classes, one-time workshops and summer camps, some of these classes have different levels (e.g. 101, 201, 301, 401). We have a few issues with the plugin as it works now but have figured out basic ways to work around it. We are currently redesigning the website and would like to know if EE4 will tackle some of the issues that we currently have.

1. We run classes that are 6 weeks long and meet once a week. Currently in EE3 we just add the start and end date of the class but it doesn’t account for the actual days the class runs. When we had the calendar installed it showed each class running for 6 weeks straight.

2. Since we have different levels for the same class we ideally need some sort of modifier for each class, like a dropdown that asks for the level. In reality Computers 101 & 201 are not different classes, they are the same class and the student needs to choose their level. In EE3 we add both 101 & 201 which adds a lot of bulk to our database. We would also like to input these as 1 class because we do use the class max student number.

3. We have some parents with multiple children that would like to checkout in one transaction. In EE 4 it seems like we will be able to create the classes in a way that allows for multiple classes in one transaction, can you please verify that?

4. In EE 4 is there any way to store basic information about the customer –– Name, Address, Phone etc?

Could you give us a ballpark on a stable release of EE 4? Is it 3 months, 6 months, 1 year out?

HI Chris,

1) With EE4 each datetime will appear on the events page like this unless you style it differently: http://www.screencast.com/t/wlSS1itswKwL The Calendar add-on is not yet compatible with EE4 but you could build a custom event schedule display if you wanted.

With EE3 you have two options (you may be familiar with them):

1a) If you want your attendees to register for one event, say at the beginning of a series then: 1) create each event and use the Recurring Events Manager (recommended method) to schedule the subsequent occurrence of the events, 2) then in the subsequent events in the series you can use the Alternate Registration Page (http://www.screencast.com/t/JZTyjAZQ3W6M) field to point the event details pages of the subsequent events to the registration page for the first event. That will allow you to display all the other events on your calendar, but control the attendee records and registration limits by the settings of the first event. Does that make sense? Then you can also have one-off events too.

1ab) With the Multiple Event Registration addon (https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-multiple/) you can configure individual shortcodes to add a series of events to the cart at one time.

The shortcode to add a series of events to the cart in one step looks like this:

Each number in the event_id parameter is the event id for that event (not to be confused with the “Unique Event Identifier”). The event id can be found on the Event Overview page in your dashboard.

2) With EE4 we have max limits on multiple datetimes and multiple tickets: https://eventespresso.com/features/multiple-dates-times-per-event/ and https://eventespresso.com/features/multiple-ticket-pricing-options/

You can configure each level as a separate ticket for the same class or datetime.

Does that make sense?

3) With EE4 they can only choose tickets from one event. So, you can do like you suggest but you’d want to create each class as its own ticket. So the parent chooses their class as a ticket. Does that make sense?

5) Stable release will be when we do not find or have reports of any bugs that affect a lot of users. So far there have only been one or two bugs reported the *might* affect most users. We’re hoping that the stable release is ready within 2-4 weeks (unofficially).
