Hi guys, I tried installing the 4.6-beta, but seem to have run into a couple of problems. First of all, all attendees are gone. They show up in the counts, but all the attendee listings are empty. Secondly, it’s become impossible to register for events. I get to fill out personal information, but after pressing the finalize-button, an error messsage appears stating that “This registration step could not be completed. Please refresh the page and try again.” Where do I start searching for a fix to this? Is the easiest to downgrade to 4.5 again? (I couldn’t find a beta forum, so sorry if I’m posting in the wrong place.) All the best,

Hi Eivind, A good start to troubleshoot this would be to deactivate all other plugins and try registering with the default WordPress theme active. Downgrading to 4.5 would only be possible by reverting to a database backup taken before running the 4.6 migration (which happens when you first activate 4.6). |

The first plugin I’d recommend deactivating is the WP User integration add-on for EE4 because if you have it set to allow multiple attendee registration, the user integration add-on will throw the error you reported. |

Hi, thanks for your reply. I deactivated the User Integration plugin, and removed the hooks adding my own filters to that plugin, but without any luck. I deactived 4.6-alpha and reactivated 4.5-beta, and it seems to be working okay. I’m still in development, so for now I’ll just stick with that and see if it still works as it did. When I reactivated 4.5-beta, and the attendee listings started working again, I could see, however, that the 4.6-alpha had actually registered participants, but without any information attatched. |
Hi Eivind, I’m not sure it’s a good idea to revert back to 4.5-beta after migrating to, or initially installing 4.6-alpha, because the data in your database could become corrupted (it happened to me while testing). If you plan to continue testing with the 4.5-beta branch, I would recommend starting over with a fresh database. I hope that helps. |

I was expecting it to go wrong in some way, but so far all is good. I guess I should do a fresh install anyways, before this site goes into production. I do wonder, though, if there’s any way to export settings? I don’t mind flushing my test events and attendees, but I’ve spent quite some time customizing emails, settings etc. Is there any way to keep those? Thanks again |

I figured there were no way to export settings, custom emails etc. But I did find a way around, sort of, in case anyone else might need to do the same. Before resetting the install, I opened all settings pages, custom emails etc in new tabs. Then I reset the install, deleted all Event Espresso tables, and reactivated the plugin. I then went to my previously opened tabs. On the ordinary settings pages, all I needed to do was to hit save. On the custom email pages that didn’t work, but I could open the email manager in a new tab, and then copy-paste the old emails into the new setup. So, not as smooth as a complete export-import functionality, but it did save me from having to re-enter all the information on all those pages. |
Hi Eivind, Thanks for sharing your workflow on how you moved back to EE 4.5. — |
