Is it possible to hide shortcodes in the Event Espresso App Event Description field? It removes HTML Code to just display text, but any shortcodes that are in the event description still display.

So the Event Espresso apps is removing your html but shortcodes work? Does the user role have access to post unfiltered_html? https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities#unfiltered_html

I am currently using the EE plugin for Event Organizers and Event Managers found here: http://take.ms/WcoqG
The HTML is removed on both Event Organizer login and Admin. I would assume admin would have access to this? I actually prefer it to filter HTML. I also want it to filter shortcode, which is not happening.

Hi there,

There’s an open ticket for the REST API component of Event Espresso that will filter out any WP shortcodes from the Event Description that’s passed to the app (and any other REST API request).

As an aside, if you haven’t already done so, you can deactivate that plugin. It’s intended to be run once and once it’s done running all the capabilities are set and the plugin is no longer supposed to be on your site.

Hey Josh!

I’m a bit confused by

Does this mean that EE has put in a request for this change? As this currently is not the case for me.

And just for confirmation, the plugin you are referring to here

is the “EE Event Roles Plugin” correct?
I assumed that considering that it created new roles and permissions it needed to stay active. Once you confirm that this isn’t the case I will go ahead and deactivate.

Thanks!

Yes, we have a ticket for our developers to investigate this further and change how EE outputs the description to remove the shortcodes when viewed using the REST API (which the app uses to communicate with EE on your site)

Yes its that plugin.

The roles are added to the database and the plugin itself can then be removed from the site.

To confirm this simply de-activate the plugin then go to:

Dashboard -> Users -> Add new.

In the roles dropdown you should still be able to select the roles that plugin added to the DB (with the plugin current de-activated)
