Event category shortcode parameters and event layout template

Hi,

We are going to start using shortcodes targeted by the category, eg
[ESPRESSO_EVENTS category_slug=courses-sailing show_title=false limit=5 css_class=essa_events_css]

For categories where there are no planned events yet, the shortcode outputs nothing. Is there a parameter that would make it output, eg “No events planned yet”? Guessing you would have documented it if there were.

An example is on this page: https://essa.org.uk/groups/courses/
The Sailing category has courses but the Windsurfing does not yet.

I am also going to need to customise the template used to display the events. We will need the header to be <h3> and other changes. Do you know which template I need to copy and change? In case I can’t find it!

Best wishes,

Anita

Hi there,

Event Espresso uses Custom Post Types (CPTs) to create the single event pages and event archive pages. Here’s the documentation that pertains to CPTs:
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-custom-post-types/

Also, here’s additional documentation for templates:
