Is there any way I can get the event calendar to display events that are organized by others? I want the events to show in the calendar, but not in the listing for upcoming events. Is that possible? Thanks for helping!

Hello,

What do you mean when you say “organized by others”?

= events organized by members of our network (not by the network it self) that may be of interest for other members of our network.

I would like these events to show in the calendar, linking to a page with information about that particular event. But as we will have nothing to do with the registration or ticketing, I want to exclude that part. Is that possible?
I hope this was clarifying.
Many thanks for helping!

You’d probably need to use event categories for that. Have one category for your events and another category for outside events, and then use an EVENT_LIST shortcode or a category event list shortcode to display events only in the category for your network on the main event list but the calendar can display all events.

Thanks. But that does not really resolve my problem. If I set the event to be active, a registration form automatically displays on the event overview page. I can’t have that as the network has got nothing to do with the registration. If I set the event to be inactive, the event does not show in the calendar.
Although I have managed the events into different categories, I cannot see how that will help me…
Can you explain?
Many thanks again!

Hi Tone,

Chris answered your question about how to display some events on the calendar, but not display in an event list.

You can use the “Alternate Registration Page” feature to make the events that are organized by others link to their websites. When you create/edit these events, you can enter the other website’s URL and when someone clicks on the event in the calendar, it will take them to the other site.

Alternatively, you can set “Display registration form” to no and include a link to the other event’s site in the event description.

Here is a link to the documentation for the event options:
