I am with a non profit. Not a webmaster but I update our WordPress site. Once a year we have an event that we sell tickets to and Event Espresso seems perfect. However, I have a few questions:

1) We need to be able to gather custom information on the registration form. I know this requires the paid version of Event Espresso. Is there any plug in I need for this or is it native in Event Espresso?
2) Is there a way to import a CSV file to Event Espresso for our members in order to speed up and simplify the registration process? Rather than have our members key their info, can they simply put in their email address and the rest of their info can be populated?
3) In the paid version, can I determine what info to collect from the first ticket and second ticket in a sale?
4) Is there a way to have ticket options resented based on a field in the contact record (for example, a premium Member ticket price that does not show up unless the contact record has a premium field)?
5) In reports, can I determine what is downloaded in the CSV file? If I add a field, will it automatically be included in the CSV?

Sorry for all the questions which I am sure are simple. I am trying to determine how the system can work for us. I have messed with the decaf version and it seems it can do what we need if we get the full. Just need help understanding these things.

Hi Jim,

How are you today?

1) We need to be able to gather custom information on the registration form. I know this requires the paid version of Event Espresso. Is there any plug in I need for this or is it native in Event Espresso?

Custom questions (and custom question groups) are a part of Event Espresso core, you do not need any add-ons for this.

2) Is there a way to import a CSV file to Event Espresso for our members in order to speed up and simplify the registration process? Rather than have our members key their info, can they simply put in their email address and the rest of their info can be populated?

No it is not currently possible to import data into Event Espresso. You could use the EE4 User Integration Add-on so that your users can log into the site and their First Name, Last Name and Email address will be automatically filled based on their user account details.

We also have a snippet for that add-on that will pull in the last used answer for any custom questions you may have, meaning after they have registered onto their first event and any events will have previously answer questions pre filled.

Would that work?

3) In the paid version, can I determine what info to collect from the first ticket and second ticket in a sale?

Event Espresso allows you to set the questions per event, not per ticket so it depends on what you mean here.

You can not set say Ticket A to request Question A, B, C and Ticket B to request Question C,D, F within the same event. However you can set the primary registrant questions to be different from additional registrants, so if a user selected 4 of the same ticket, you can request certain questions for the first attendee and then different questions for all of the others.

4) Is there a way to have ticket options resented based on a field in the contact record (for example, a premium Member ticket price that does not show up unless the contact record has a premium field)?

With EE4 User Integration add-on mentioned above you can set a ‘minimum require capability’ on a ticket, so if the user logs in and has the ‘premiem_member’ capability, you can set the ticket to only show to those users.

Its not based on a specific field within the contact but it works in a similar way.

5) In reports, can I determine what is downloaded in the CSV file? If I add a field, will it automatically be included in the CSV?

Any custom questions will automatically be included within the CSV, you can not select which fields to include currently but you can exclude any of the fields that are already shown if you prefer.

Have you signed up to Test Drive Event Espresso 4? You can view the full plugin and see how it would work there which may help better although we are more than happen to answer any questions you may have.

OK, it seems like I can do what I am trying to do here. So if I only need the EE4 User Integration and the EE4 Personal License, it would cost $69.95 +$39.95 for the first year, unless I apply for a discount for our non profit. Is that correct? I will download the trial version of the full EE4 so I can test what I am trying to do. Thanks.

Yes that is correct.

You can apply for a non profit discount using this form:
