I’m a new user of Event Espresso and even with the default settings, my event registration page shows “No events available…” I have tried the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode as well as [EVENT_LIST] and [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR show_expired=”true”]. None seem to produce anything.

Hi Asif,

First, please make sure that the page set as the Main Registration page in Event Espresso>General Settings under page settings has the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode. The other shortcodes cannot be used on that page, and any other page cannot use [ESPRESSO_EVENTS]

Next, can you verify that there are active events that are set to be open for registration? It will display the “No Events available” message if there are no events available to register for.

Thanks for the prompt response Josh. I’ve removed all other shortcodes from the page and verified that the EVENTS shortcode appears only on that page. There are 3 events with status: OPEN but still the same message on the Events Registration page (which is set as the Main Registration page).

Hi Asif,

First, please make sure you have the very latest version of Event Espresso (currently 3.1.30.5)

Then after that, here’s something you can try:

1) Create a new page, and place the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode on it. Then save.

2) Go to Event Espresso>General Settings and change the Main registration page setting to the new page you just made. Then save the settings.

3) Then create a second new page and place the [EVENT_LIST] shortcode on it. Then save.

Then you can check both of those new pages on the front end.

One other thing that’s important to check:

An event can be “open” for registration if the registration end date is in the future, but it will not display in the event list if the event start and end dates are in the past. So I recommend checking those dates too!

Thanks Josh. Waiting on my host to update a few things so I can successfully upgrade to the latest EE. Right now I get this error: Download failed. SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed. All dates etc. seem to be ok.

Hello Asif,

You may be best updating manually here, as that error has come up before and the best resolution was to manually update the plugin.

Ok, WordPress and EE have both been updated to the most recent versions – still not working. Any help?

Hi Asif,

Can you try temporarily switching to the twentyeleven theme? It may help to rule out what’s causing this.

Ok, I tried this and no luck either. Is there any more information I can give you to help troubleshoot?

Hi Asif,

Yes, is this a multisite installation of WordPress or single site?

We can also take a look at the admin if it’s okay with you please send log in credentials via this page:

It was installed on my staging server first and then moved to the new site. I have removed it from the old site. I have sent along the admin details via the form. Thanks!

HI Asif,

It turns out that the dates you entered for registration start and end, and event start and end were not formatted correctly. Normally a calendar will pop up which will let you select dates and it will automatically input the dates in the correct format for you.

The datepicker is working as expected, so I’m thinking it may be the other server had some issues -or- when you had your other theme active, there were some JavaScript errors in the admin that prevented the calendar datepicker from working. I went ahead and fixed the dates for one of the events.

You should be able to go back through the other ones and fix those dates so they’ll all work as expected.

One thing that you should be aware of: the system status page is indicating that the server that your site is on is running Microsoft-IIS/7.5. This type of server is not tested or supported by Event Espresso. I highly recommend considering moving to a LAMP stack server, we have some recommendations for you over here:

Thank you! I have them all working now. I didn’t realize there was supposed to be a date picker. Wow, what a relief. I will discuss the server issue with my admin and try to get it resolved. Thanks again!
