Pre-sales question regarding the Espresso Permissions Basic plugin (https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-permissions-basic/). We have event staff who need read-only access to registrant information. With this plugin, is it possible to have a user role be able to view attendee information and question answers without edit permissions?

Hi,

That particular plugin does not have that feature set, and it actually isn’t compatible with Event Espresso 4 anyway.

It is possible to have a user role be able to view attendee information and answers without edit capabilities with Event Espresso 4 though. That’s because there’s a built-in capabilities system.

If you’re familiar with editing WordPress user role capabilities, you follow this guide:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/event-espresso-4-roles-permissions/

In a nutshell, you’ll remove all _edit_ related capabilities, or grant the _read_ capabilities related to Event Espresso for that user role.

Thanks! Did some testing with this, and registration form answers aren’t showing up for the restricted user. Only registration status, registration details and contact details. In screen options, there is no “Registration Form Answers” box to check.

Which capability is this tied to? I have all ee_read_ capabilities enabled for the role type.

I looked and as it stands right now the Registration Form Answers meta box is tied to ee_edit_registration. The reason being is there are links to edit the answers.

I’ve put in a pull request to change that up a bit so the box itself will only require ee_read_registration, and then make the edit links require
ee_edit_registration.

I’ll let you know when that pull request gets merged into core. Once it’s merged that means it will be in the next update release of EE4.

Thanks!

Along those lines of a pull request, when the role only has read permissions, the Registration Status box still has the dropdowns and update button. They won’t work (no permission for the route), but it would be nice for only the Current Registration Status to show, and not the additional form fields.

We’ll see what we can do with that part!
