1. I am getting an error message from PayPal to my email account. “Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notifications (IPN). IPNs sent to the following URL(s) are failing:”

2. When I follow the link, it sends me to this: “This is the Event Espresso Transactions page. This page receives instant payment notification (IPN) requests and should have a status of published, but should not be easily accessible by site visitors. Do not add it to your website’s navigation menu or link to it from another page. Also, do not delete it or change its status to private.”

3.My registrations are no longer coming to my email account.

What do I need to do to fix this?

4. I have my workshops on one page and my art classes on another webpage. I have them categorized so that the events for the art classes go to the art classes page, and the workshops go to the workshops page. Unfortunately, on the workshops page, both the classes and the workshops are showing up even though I have the proper “category” for events espresso link on the page. Please let me know what I need to do to adjust this.

How can I correct this error?

Hi there,

It looks like you are using the PayPal Standard payment method on your site, we actually deprecated that payment method a little while ago (it no longer displays for new EE installs at all) due to IPN reliability issues (from PayPals side) so I recommend switching to PayPal Express.

We have some documentation on doing so here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/paypal-express-payment-gateway/

(Uses the same PayPal account type but needs different details from your account)

As PayPal Express doesn’t use IPN’s to communicate with PayPal its considered much more reliable. Switching over should fix issue 1, 2 and likely 3 from above.

Can you link me the workshop page in question so I can take a look?

Can you also post the full shortcode in use on that page to pull in the EE events?

(You can mark your reply private if you don’t want to post the links publicly)

Hi Cara,

You have 2 shortcodes there, one for pulling in the workshop category and another for pulling in all events regardless of category but with a limit of 20.

Are you looking to display a list of 20 events from that category? If so you need a single shortcode with both parameters, something like this:

[ESPRESSO_EVENTS category_slug={the-category-slug} limit=20]

You’re most welcome.

PayPal will continue to try failed IPN’s on their end for a few days and then mark them no response, meaning you should stop receiving those emails shortly.
