I can’t permanently delete events from the trash. I am running EE4, when I try to permanently delete an event I get the following error message:
An EE_Error exception was thrown! code: EEM_Base – _do_wpdb_query – 2327
“WPDB Error: “You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ” at line 1″”

I have taken all the suggested trouble shooting steps including updating the theme to Twenty Seventeen and disabling all active plugins.
This is actually a known issue and one of the developers will need to fix the underlying issue. Once that fix is included in a release the delete from trash feature will work again. We’ll update this topic when there’s an update.
While troubleshooting the issue we noticed what we believe was a bug related to the issue in the database table…thanks for your help. We will patiently wait for a fix in regards to the problem.
This was fixed and the fix was included in the 4.9.47.p release.
