I moved the website to siteground.com and they had to deactivate the plugin for me to access the WP admin section. When I went to activate the plugin I received the following error message:

The core file _Notes_Admin_Page_Init could not be located or is not readable due to file permissions. Please ensure that the following filepath(s) are correct: /home/bostonas/public_html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/caffeinated/admin/new/_notes/_Notes_Admin_Page_Init.core.php EE_Registry – _load – 482

What do I do now?

Hi Susan, could you try removing Event Espresso 4 and re-installing the latest version through WordPress Plugins?

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ee4-changelog/

You can find the latest version here:

Do I deactivate it or delete it? Will I loose my events and registrations?

Hi Susan, deactivate and then delete via WP-admin –> Plugins.

Your events and registrations won’t be lost as a re-install removes and replaces the core plugin files.

When I upload the zip file I get the following error message:

Unable to create directory uploads/2015/05. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Hi Susan,

Thanks for sharing. That provides more insight on what I think may have happened. When you migrated, did you possibly download the wp-content folder from your old webhost and then upload that to your new host via SFTP or FTP?

If so, there may be some folder & file permissions that need to be adjust to work with your new web host.

Could you ask siteground to refresh permissions for you?

Hi Susan,

Can you contact your host and let them know about the “unable to create directory” and “could not be located or is not readable due to file permissions” errors? Both of the error messages indicate that file permissions are not set up correctly on this server.
