Error: "Sorry your transaction was not accepted" but credit card charged

Hello,

When a customer registers for an event, they are taken to the page where they fill in their payment information, however when they click the “Complete Purchase” button, the next screen shows the following error:

“Sorry your transaction was not accepted”.

When we log into eway to check the payment status however, the payment has gone through. This is resulting in customers purchasing registrations to events more than once and then we have to process multiple refunds.

In the Attendee List view of Event Espresso, the status of the order shows as “Incomplete”.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Cheers,

Adam

Hi Adam,

I am having some difficulty locating the source of this error message. It is possible it is coming from eWay.

Could you please go to General Settings and change the option “Use full logging” to yes, and then after another incorrect payment has occurred, turn it off and provide us with access to the log.txt from wp-content/uploads/espresso/logs.

This will give us a clearer indication of what is occurring.

Hi there,

I’m looking into this now. I ran a test registration and it’s redirecting me to a “/products-page/checkout/” page after the payment form. I’ll go through and check to make sure the Event Espresso pages are set up correctly.

The other thing that may need to be done here is to contact WPEngine support and ask them secure Event Espresso’s Main Registration page and the Thank You page (they should be set up to load as https since the credit card information is entered on those pages).

I think this might be a conflict with the other e-commerce plugins that are installed. You could try running a test with the other e-commerce plugins deactivated to see if that fixes the issue.

Thanks for your help Dean and Josh.

Josh: I disabled all the WP e-Commerce plugins, ran a test registration and did so successfully. I then turned them all back on one at a time, testing registrations as I went. Registrations were successful until I turned Gold Cart back on. At this point, I got the same error as before (“Sorry, your transaction was not accepted”). I will contact WPEngine now and ask them to secure Event Espresso’s Main Registration page and the Thank You page.

Dean: I ran an unsuccessful registration while full logging was on and have uploaded the log file to this URL: edit:(moved into a non-public note)

It sounds like the makers of the “Gold Cart” are checking every request to the site for keywords that indicate that it is someone returning from eWay. What we do is check first whether the request is for the transactions page or the thank-you page (depending on the gateway provider), and then check the request for the keywords indicating that it is a return from eWay with transaction information. We could probably fix up the “Gold Cart” code to do the same, at least to not load it’s code if the page loaded is one of ours. But we would need the purchase of a support token to cover our time and login credentials to see the Gold Cart code.
