I’ve recently started receiving this error in the WordPress backend, and on the Event Espresso Calendar page and events pages:
“The requested Gateways module file could not be found or is not readable due to file permissions.”
System info
WordPress Version: 6.6.1
PHP Version: 8.2.20
Event Espresso Version: 5.0.21.p

Can you show us where do you see that error? Can you also get the log for us?

I did try recreate that issue, but everything seems fine on my end.
lets do the following, try re-uploading the new EE version on your site. Just upload the EE core, even you have existing EE plugin and activated.
If it didn’t work, check for any plugin conflict. You can use https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ or any similar plugin.
You can do the above using Troubleshooting mode:
Tools -> Site Health -> Troubleshooting -> Enabled Troubleshooting mode.
That will disable all plugins and switch to a default theme and then allow you to enable specific plugins troubleshooting mode. Once disabled you will revert back to the current state.
