Enabling all countries from the drop down on the payments tab

Hi Josh and team,

I saw this earlier thread:

But like the previous person said, we have events where people register from multiple different countries. Usually 35 countries + per event, and they aren’t always the same 35.

I found the section in general settings where I can add countries to the drop down.

So two questions,

Do I have to save the country and the states/provinces for each country?
Or just save the country and the states/ provinces are already added?

is there anyway to just enable them all at once without having to select 100 different countries and saving them one at a time?

Hi Rick,

In short, you need to enable the countries in the setting page so that EE builds out the states for the selected county.

EE has changed a little since that post, it will automatically pull in the states for you when you enable a country and save them to the database.

Or just save the country and the states/ provinces are already added?

EE does not include states for all countries by default.

You used to need to use the state packs to add the states for a selected country, now EE will pull the data automatically when a country is enabled in the admin.

Whilst this is possible, (the plugin mentioned in THIS reply does it) what it can’t do is pull in all of the states for those countries.

You’ll need to load them in the country editor to download and save the states for that county to the database.

Thank you Tony. I added the countries and states/provinces.
The countries now show up in the drop down properly, but the states / provinces do not.

For example; we have a customer trying to register from the UK. The can select the country, but not the province. For some reason that box just shows up as a two character box, when the UK is selected and there are no drop down provinces to select.

I double checked the back end and there are several provinces for the UK added.

Hi,

It sounds like you need to go to Event Espresso > General Settings > Countries, then select United Kingdom. After it loads the selected country, you’ll look at the column to the right. Each province listed there will have a setting “State Appears in Dropdown Select Lists”. Are those set to Yes? If so, you click Save. If not, you’ll change those to Yes, then click Save.
