A message prompt appears when a payment reminder is sent
Message was not executed successfully.
Messenger and Message Type were valid and active, but the messenger send method failed.
The email did not send successfully.
The WordPress wp_mail function is used for sending mails but does not give any useful information when an email fails to send.
It is possible the “to” address (kim.johnson@jamf.com) or “from” address (ashleyclarke@vste.org,ashleyclarke@vste.org) is invalid.

I reset the payment reminder template and started over. The prompt does not appear when messages are sent but the message still fails to send resulting in the second message below.
An error has occurred:
No message was sent because of problems with sending. Either all the messages you selected were not a sendable message, they were ALREADY sent on a different scheduled task, or there was an error. If there was an error, you can look at the messages in the message activity list table for any error messages.

The second error there suggests that a fatal error was thrown during the email generation which locked the queue.
If you check the server’s error logs can you see any errors from Event Espresso?
Your host will usually have a section within your control panel to view the logs.
The queue will ‘unlock’ after a little time, but not if there is a fatal error being thrown each time it tries to process.
