Automated Emails worked perfectly fine, wanted to change the C/O Email because it was not accurate and after changing, no more automated emails (even when you try changing it back.)

Hi there,

In which section did you change the emails?

Can you see the emails in Event Espresso -> Messages -> Message activity? If so, do they have the correct address in the to and from fields and what colour ‘status bar’ (the bar to the left of each message) do they have?

I changed it under Settings > General Settings > Primary Contact Email.

When I go to message activity they have the correct to and from addresses with a green status bar but no email is sent. I even setup WP Mail SMTP and verified that their test emails are working but not on Event Espresso.

Have a great week.

Email is a finicky beast so working test emails doesn’t always mean ‘full’ HTML emails make it through, even though they go to the mail server in exactly the same way.

When I go to message activity they have the correct to and from addresses with a green status bar but no email is sent.

This is the important part in terms of Event Espresso, if the status bar it means everything within Event Espresso work as expected and the email was passed over to wp_mail() as expected, which then didn’t return any errors.

Event Espresso itself doesn’t ‘send’ email, it generates the content and headers, then passes those over to wp_mail() to do whatever you server is set up to do with them. When using WP Mail SMTP that means you’ve set the above to connect to whichever service to send the emails through their servers.

Which mail provider are you using for the ‘correct’ email?

Who did you connect WP Mail SMTP up to?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the quick replies – after some digging around it seems that it wasn’t liking the send from email and kept denying access. WP Mail SMTP says that the API Key from Sendgrid only needs Send Mail but I found that it was having a hard time sending messages without drops so after upping the access and tweaking the send from email it’s now working. Thank you.

Nice find!

May I ask what you tweaked on the send from just for future reference, I don’t need the specific email used etc just the change made if possible?

(Note – You can also mark your private so only EE staff can view it if preferred)
