Hi guys,

I saw on several other posts the popular request to have the email optional or left out for additional attendess.

Like one of the posts I also have child tickets on offer so I have no need to obtain an email for this ticket type.

Ideally, I would like to associate questions/question groups to a particular ticket type also so that I can gather information associated with a particular ticket type and not just an event.

You stated in a number of posts this or similar functionality will be available in v4.0 with the MER plugin to be updated then.

Can you confirm if this functionality is still planned in v4.0 and if you have a rough estimate of when this may be available?

I know it is a big job and deadlines hard to estimate but even a rough month would help me plan a short or long term workaround in the meantime.

Thanks,

FRANK

Hi Frank,

Currently version 4.0 is due out in the next month or so, hopefully much sooner. However, the add ons will not be initially available, and we have no timescale for their release as yet.

Thanks for the reply Dean, that’s fair enough.

Can I just clarify so that I do not upgrade unnecessarily and break my installation of Event Espresso.

I currently use the following addons in Event Espresso v3.1.33.3.P;

Ticketing v2.0.10.1
Recurring Events v1.1.7.1
Events Calendar v2.0.6.1
Multiple Event Registration v1.0.4 (already confirmed will not work)
Custom Files v3.1
Social Coupon Integration v1.5.3.1
MailChimp Integration v1.1

Please advise if I will be able to use any of those modules if I upgraded to v4.0 when it is released?

Thanks again,

FRANK

Hi Frank,

In short, no.

The 3.1.X codebase is not compatible with the 4.0+ codebase, for all intents and purposes they are separate plugins, 4.0 was completely re-coded from the ground up (thus why it has taken so long).

4.0 will initially ship with no add ons but we will be working hard to release updated and compatible add ons as quickly as we can.

No bother Dean, I appreciate that and the complexities of it all.

It is a pity all the same but I look forward to v4 with all the compatible addons I have in the business licence pack.

I just needed to clarify that as last thing I wanted to do was upgrade to v4 and then find nothing worked anymore.

Keep up the good work on it, once you get v4 with that added functionality and all the addons I think you guys have something that will hard to beat. It is hard to fault as is bar that functionality mentioned above so that will be the icing on the cake for me for Event Espresso.

Thanks Frank,

We do appreciate your kind words and feedback. We are very excited about 4.0 but as normal development takes a lot of time and money. We would have loved to have released 4.0 6 months ago but it simply wouldnt have been good for anyone concerned. The product now is much better and, we think, a vast improvement compared to 3.1.X, though most of the improvements are “under the hood”.
