Email not sending when 100% discount is applied

Howdy,
Having read this post <a href=”https://eventespresso.com/t
opic/payment-confirmation-email-is-not-sent-with-100-discount/”>https://eventespresso.com/topic/payment-confirmation-email-is-not-sent-with-100-discount/, I understand that the email is not being sent to the attendee of the event if a 100% discount is being applied.

I have the same issue on the latest version of EE4, we have some customers that we grant 100% discount to so they can book a place on an event. When the discount is applied the place is booked, but no email confirmation is sent to either admin or customer. I have added the Email Log plugin to track whether the email is being sent, and in this case the email is not being logged ergo not being sent.

Regardless of whether the customer uses a discount code or not, they should still receive an email confirmation to confirm their place along with the booking details so that they have a copy of what they have booked on.

Are there any known work arounds to get an email to send in this scenario?

Hi there,

I just tested a registration using a 100% discount code on a couple of different test sites and Registration Approved email was triggered correctly (including the ticket notice which is sent for Approved Registrations when using the ticketing add-on).

Although the thread you linked to above is for EE3 the same logic applies for the payment email, no payment is received so a payment received message will not be triggered but registration based messages should be.

If you test a registration using the discount code now, then go to:

Event Espresso -> Messages -> Message activity.

Do you see a registration approved message template waiting to generate? Like this – http://take.ms/tqR69

If you wait a few mins and refresh the page it should then generate the messages and send (the 3 messages below the ones I’ve highlighted are from the test before to confirm they worked, those messages have sent)
