Email Manager not saving

I’ve just recently tried using the Email Manager feature of Event Espresso.

I can create new emails all I’d like, but the content area of the email never saves and after pressing the Update button I am given the error message: “The email NAME OF EMAIL was not updated. .”

If I send the emails anyway, the site just sends empty emails.

I can’t find any explanation or anyone else having this problem. Can anyone help me solve this?

Hi Shane,

Which version of Event Espresso is installed?

Also, this could be a theme or plugin conflict. You could try ruling this out by temporarily switching to the default WordPress theme and deactivating the other plugins installed on this site.

Hi Josh, sorry I posted in the wrong area by mistake.

Next, a complaint about your site: I posted the original post with my other account and now cannot respond to my own thread because it doesn’t have a personal licence associated with it. Irritating at best.

We are running version 3.1.20.P – I’m guessing if we could update the software it would get resolved, but I cannot seem to figure out how to do that.

Hi there,

I’m sorry to hear you had trouble posting to the forums with the other account. The paid sections of the forums are only accessible to customers who have purchased a support license. Is this other account supposed to have a support license tied to it? If so, please let us know and we’ll be happy to fix that.

Updating the software may help, and you can download the latest version of Event Espresso from your account page and follow the manual upgrade instructions here:
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/updating-event-espresso/

Once you’ve updated to the newer version, you can enter your site license key in Event Espresso>General settings to enable update notifications and one-click updates.

Josh,

I’ve finally had the time to invest to perform the update. After performing the update, the Email Manager still does not work right. I am still having the same problem that I described in my first post.

Does this error message indicate anything in particular? Are there some settings wrong somewhere in my setup? Could it be a Database issue? Something else?

It’s possible it’s an editor issue. Which could be caused by a script from a theme or another plugin that is altering the WP editor. You can rule these out by deactivating all non – Event Espresso plugins and temporarily activating the default WordPress theme.

Another thing to verify is that you have the latest version of WordPress installed. Event Espresso uses the very latest WP editor functions and may not work as expected with older versions of WordPress.

Thanks Josh,

Perhaps the WordPress version is the problem. We don’t seem to be having any issues with any other editor windows, but we are running an old version of WP.

We are running the site off a template theme in which the original creators locked out the WP updating capability, so, at this time, we won’t be upgrading WP – at least not until we understand why they locked that out.

All the other editor windows are likely using the deprecated Editor functions. Event Espresso was updated to use the new editor functions that shipped with WordPress 3.3.

Event Espresso requires WordPress 3.3 or higher in order to function properly, so I’d suggest setting up a test site with your theme and test it there if you cannot get support from the theme developer.
