Hi, I’m trialling some events before my site goes live. the events are free, so no payment is being exchanged. When i register, i am told i’ll get a confirmation email, but the emails arent sent. I’ve tried with a number of alternate email addresses. is there a work around for this?
thanks
Hi, further to my query, when I manually try to resend the registration email i get this error message on the dashboard:
An error has occurred:
Something went wrong and the message for this registration was NOT resent
EED_Messages – process_resend – 643
Can WordPress send regular emails? (User registration, password resets etc) you can test this using the Check Email to send a test email, does that work?
Event Espresso doesn’t send emails itself, it simply passes the email to wp_mail() which can do any number of steps but usually sends it on to send_mail on the server and the email is send through your web hosts mail server. So if WordPress can not send emails, EE can not send emails. It is also possible the host is flagging the HTML emails EE uses as spam.
Generally with Email issues such as these we recommend using a transactional email service such as Mandill or PostMark as you can then be sure the mail server is correctly set up to handle these emails. You can read more about both of those options here:
