Email Approval emails being resent numerous times

Hello,

Some customers are receiving the same ticket emails 3-4 times in repetition. I’ve ruled out any issues with Send In Blue however the message logs aren’t showing any errors.

Any help would be appreicated.

Hi there,

May I ask how you’ve ruled out issues with Send In Blue?

If you look in Event Espresso -> Messages -> Message Activity can you see the duplicate messages there?

Thanks Tony,

We deactivated the Send In Blue and relied on the internal WPMail and the problem persisted.

The messages are displaying as successfully sent in the activity section, no hint that they failed and have been resent etc.

Sadly there is no pattern either, it’s quite sporadic.

Any help would be great.

But do you see multiple of the same message listed in message activity?

So if User A received 4 Registration Approved messages, do you see those 4 message listed or just one?

Any caching enabled on the site?

Ok, so you do see the duplicates listed.

What stands out there there is the duplicates are happening at 1-minute intervals, the message system runs on 5 minutes intervals by default (I’m assuming you haven’t changed that?).

The only time we see issues like this is when something is caching the request, your 100% certain there’s no caching enabled on the site/server?

Hi Tony, Thanks again for your reply. No caching plugins are active on the W install, or the server.

Today i did however update to 4.10.9.p

We haven’t changed anything in the message system for a long time so the above update is unlikely to fix this.

Which payment method are you using?

Thanks Tony, It’s defiantly a tough one.

Both the transactions that have done this both used PayPal.

Hmm, I get the feeling this is PayPal Express IPN’s hitting the site. PayPal send IPN’s for PayPal Express but EE should (and for me does) ignore them as we don’t use them. But if they don’t get an acknowledgement from the site they retry every minute X number of times until they do or you reach the limit.

That would tie into the duplicate messages being triggered each minute.

If you send temp login details over for the site I can check the payment logs to see if thats the case, to send login details you can use this form:

Hi there,

My apologies for the delayed reply.

I spent some time digging into this to try and reproduce and so far I’ve been unable to, the logs don’t show your site getting hit with multiple IPN requests so I don’t think that is the issue here.

Is this still happening on the site? I checked over the last 3 pages of transactions and none of those show multiple Reg Approved emails being triggered so just checking if something has been changed to prevent this or if it simply stopped?
