Hi,
I’m thinking about switching my client over to EE3 from EE4. What will happen to tickets that I have already sold with EE4?

I’d recommend you review the EE4 release announcement: https://eventespresso.com/2014/02/event-espresso-4-beta-officially-released/
The data you have in EE3 will be copied to EE4, not removed or edited. So in case something goes wrong you can always move back to the original data with EE3.
We’d love you to use Event Espresso 4, just take a few minutes to understand EE4 offers different features and add-ons right now which you need to weigh against your needs.
