hi

i have the correct translations files (de_DE), changed the config file, uploaded the files to wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages, wp-includes/languages, (to test also here: wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/languages) and nothing works. do the file names have an impact? event_espresso-de_DE.mo, event_espresso-de_DE.po? is there in EE4 something else to do? thanks for helping!!

Hi,

The first thing I would check is that you downloaded the language files correctly as Github can be confusing (I spent 2 hours once wondering why the site wouldn’t translate and it was because I downloaded corrupt files).

To download the PO file – left click the link on the main page and then right click the Raw button in the top right of the page that comes up and save as.

To download the MO file – left click the link on the main page, and then left click the View Raw text link in the middle of the page that comes up.

If you don’t do this you may end up with a MO and PO file that contains garbage data and the language wont work.

Also, make sure you download the files from here https://github.com/eventespresso/languages-ee4

Please note – there is currently an issue that may cause events to show an error when using translations. We are working on a fix.

hello can you say which is the correct location?
wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages
or
wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/languages)

@gabriel There is a fix for the languages coming out either today or tomorrow (4.1.4) to make EE4 look in uploads/espresso/languages first. Right now (4.1.3) is downloading the language file directly from github to plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/languages if there is not already a .mo file there for the WP_LANG. You can override that by putting your own .mo file in there, until 4.1.4 is released, when you can put it in uploads, where it will be safe from being overwritten by updates to core.
