[EE4] Sold not matching registration count

Hi, we have an issue where the number of sold tickets does not match the number of registrations.

We have an event with 30 tickets which claims we have sold 25.

This event has 2 ticket assignments.
The first assignment shows 12 sold and 12 registrations
The second assignment shows 10 sold and 9 registrations.

Issue #1:
So there are 22 sold tickets according to the assignments but the event says that 25 have been sold.

Issue #2:
How can there be 9 registrations when 10 tickets have been sold for the second ticket assignment?

Other data:
1. We’re using PayPal standard
2. Default registration status is: Pending Payment
3. On the registrations page, only 21 items are displayed. There are none that are incomplete or trash.
4. We’re running Event Espresso – 4.9.16.p

It’s likely because you’re running an older version of Event Espresso that did not include ticket reservation handling. Is there a reason you’re not keeping the software up-to-date?

Hi Josh, I’ll update the software. I wasn’t aware of the notion of “reservations”

Also, are you referring to this update specifically?

No, that just affects the count in the Show Details for each ticket.

He’s referring to 4.9.23.p

Add checks for ticket availability at each step of Single Page Checkout to avoid overselling

That checks for ticket availability through the checkout process. When someone starts the checkout, it reserves their tickets for an hour or until they complete the registration. That protects against people checking out at the same time and overselling the event.
