EE4 – [QUESTION_LIST] not displaying in email – Please help

To Whom It May Concern:

I first off want to start off with saying that the EE staff is very helpful on here, and very good at replying in a timely manner. Thank you.

So here is my issue,

One of our event organizers noticed in the Registation Notification E-Mail, we receive back to us – is not NOT including the:

Questions & Answers

[QUESTION_LIST]

So I did a search online for these items and I found out where this is being generated from: https://monosnap.com/image/yrspDZZ4Rozh8ADoKID4aNEhwP2U9C

I tried to send a test to myself and got the same result. The event organizer wants to include this in the email but I am not sure why this isn’t working anymore? We have made a new event (for a different) item recently, so this could of caused it showing up in correctly now, along with making new Questions in the Event Espresso – Registation Form area, with questions and groups but I am not sure why that would change the even that is already setup.

When I tried to goto this page and save the page, I got an error in the [ATTENDEE_LIST] *: area and received this error below:

Are you trying to edit the registration approved (details) message type for the event admin (event author)?

Hi Lorenzo,

Good afternoon – Well we have left everything alone, nothing was updated in the E-Mail messages, but when it is sending out to users applying for a new ticket to our event:

It now only displays this in the actual email message in the Question & Answser area where before it gave the actual information they provide when filling out the question for the ticket:

Questions & Answers
[QUESTION_LIST]

So we aren’t sure why this change and not displaying now, can you please help troubleshoot this with us?

Hi Marylou, I tested this on the current release and it does show the questions and answers:

You mentioned that no changes were made.

Could you go to WP-admin –> Event Espresso –> Messages. Then click on the registration approved message type for the registrant. Then in the right area of the screen, you’ll see a reset button.

This will reset this message template. If you are sure that no customizations have been made, then go ahead and click on this button.

That will regenerate the default template for this message type.

If you are actually referring to the message received by the event admin, then you would want to click on that recipient instead and then click on the reset button.

Again, the reset button will remove any customizations so only click it if you are sure that no customizations were made.

Then try another registration and let us know if the information appears.

Hi Lorenzo,

When I tried to Reset the Filters of the messages as you suggested I got the error:

Message Type class loading fail. EEH_MSG_Template – message_type_obj – 330

I want to give a quick break down on this by the way. So when we setup the message, we left them stock/default. All We changed was who was receiving the emails on our side to basic email address.

Next, in one of the emails after the user signs up for their ticket, we just added a link in there that says you can register for your hotel now at this link.

Again basic stuff…

There was no issues on this in the past, we did recently create a new Event, and added some new Questions because this event has a few different questions then before, honestly – we just added one extra question. Then we picked that question to be added the question to the questions group, and then pick that question group for the new event. Again – all pretty simple stuff but then a few days later our event coordinator noticed the questions they filled out weren’t generating in the email anymore and now only displays:

Questions & Answers

[QUESTION_LIST]

in that area. Where before it would generate the question list they filled out as I said before. We really want to fix this issue as soon as possible as this is a big event for us and we want to have these questions show up almost as receipt for the user so they know what they picked and so it’s another back up for us incase we need to look back at the email other then the spread sheet. Please help and let us know what kind of customer service you can provide if this issue isn’t resolved from us doing what you suggest.

So just to confirm, as you said this in your initial post:

This is affecting the Event Admin Email, not the email sent to that actual Registrant.

It isn’t clear exactly which template this is, so is this the Registration Approved message or the Pending Payment message?

A quick way to identify which message is looking at the Subject of the email you received, Pending Payment Messages have “Registration Pending Payment”, Registration Approved messages have “Event Registration Details”.

It looks like this is the Registration Approved message based on your screenshot but I’d just like to confirm.

Would it be possible for me to take a look at the messages system on your site to troubleshoot this further?

Would it be possible for us to take a look within the admin to troubleshoot this further?

Hi Tony,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I am going to reply to your questions 1 at a time.

1) The Questions & Answers [QUESTION_LIST] text is showing up in the email, meaning – it’s not actually giving the actual information they submit, just that text. This is the email to use and the user who signed up. So both sides.

2) This information is being generated from the Event Espresso – Editing Email Registration Approved Template (Event Admin Recipient)

It located under the [EVENT_LIST] area, under the [ATTENDEE_LIST] and this is the HTML in that area:

3) This is the subject in the email we receive, if this helps when doing a test: Test email sent from 33rd Annual Sports Officiating Summit 2015

In the top of the email it says: Registation Notification.

4) Yes, we really could use someones help with this software on this issue because I followed all the directions, but as as I added a new question group as I stated above, a few days later is when we noticed the area when we made a new group and assigned those group questions to that new event.

I ALSO NOTICED THIS TODAY.

So when I try sending me a test personally to my email, I get this error on the top now:

Then I tried looking in the Event Espresso – Registration Form > Question Groups where I set up the questions the other days and it looks like the software is now different or updated, out of the blue which we didn’t do, and doesn’t even allow me to edit Question Groups anymore, it now tells me to Upgrade Now and say the following message:

Question Groups is a feature that is only available in the Caffeinated version of Event Espresso. With the Question Groups feature you are able to: create new question groups, edit existing question groups, and also create and edit new questions and add them to question groups.

WHY IS IT THAT WE HAD THIS OPTION AND NOW WE DON’T? Doesn’t make sense, and I think this is why it’s causing an error because the software has changed some how? We could really use help and this event is currently in the process of people being signed up and we need this issue fixed ASAP!

I will fill out the page you submitted to have someone from your company look at our back end, but if you could please contact our Admin for the site at: mkielas@referee.com on any updates, this will help!

Thanks and we hope this issue can be resolved ASAP! Again, everything else seems to be working fine, we just want the question results we had setup actually display as they always were in the past.
