My customer has a promo code in the backend valid from Dec 1 – Dec 4. Someone guessed the promo code and was able to use it yesterday. How is that possible if it is not active until Dec 1st?

Also, I took a look…

What is the difference between Valid From – Valid Until, and on the right it has Start Date – End Date.

Hi Dorian,

That was an issue on an earlier version of the promotions add-on. What is the version number that is in use on your site?

The latest is 1.0.5.

The valid from & until dates set the dates when the promo can be applied. The Start & End Dates that appear under “Change these settings to filter the events displayed in the box below.” are for filtering the list of events that you can select to assign the promotion to specific events.

Thanks…any idea about the main issue? She’s kinda not happy.

Can you check the date formats of the dates that were set? Along with that, can you check to make sure there isn’t another promotion that’s already active, that has the same promo code?

There is not another promo.

The date was from the date picker

Thank for checking on the other promo. The date format is important, and the date picker can get highjacked by another plugin or theme function, which can result in an incorrect format. So can you check the date format in the promotions editor? Is the format of the date YYYY-MM-DD or is it DD-MM-YYYY, or is it another format?

Is there a way we can do a test registration on the event where you set up a sample promo code that’s not active yet (it can be for .01)?

And where might we find the event that we can test the code with?

Yea, that might help 🙂

I tried that code on the Magical Winter’s Night event and it says the code is invalid.

Hi Dorian,

I’ve just tested on the same event and got the same results – http://take.ms/wqh0W

Is that the correct code?
Has it been applied to that event or is it global?

Elizabeth

Try another event. She applied it to all events.

I’ve tried multiple different events and still get the same result.

If the valid date is set from 12/7 to 12/11 then that code is working as expected for me.

Does that code work for you?

Are you getting an error saying it cannot be used yet or is it letting you use it? It should not let you use it until 12/7.

It doesn’t let us use that code. What happens when you try it?
