I created the types ‘LAIS.Anleiterin’ and ‘LAIS.Anleiter’ to distinct female and male. In the single event view all people are shown under both types. However, when I create a new menu item with people types only those assigned to the appropiate type are schown. |
Hi there, If you are adding individual people types to menu items you will only see people that have been assigned to that type. Are you wanting to show both types of people on when viewing a single type? |

Hi Tony, |
That’s currently expected behavior. The people types are intended to be used to allow you to categorize users on the front end, for example if you visit yourdomain.com/people-type/{type}/ you’ll see a list of all people assigned to that type. The event editor will allow you to select people from all types within the event, so example a user may be assigned to a ‘staff’ type for the organization but for a single event be assigned within the ‘speaker’ type. In your example obviously a male can not be selected as a female for a specific event but the system is designed to work for the most use cases currently. |

Hi Tony, In the event editor I now have two boxes on the right side one under the other were one says in the headline ‘Assign LAIS.Anleiter’ and the other box ‘Assign LAIS.Anleiterin’. My expectation is that only those people assigned to the appropiate type show up in the box (i.e 4 in LAIS.Anleiter and 8 in LAIS.Anleiterin) whereas all twelve show up in both boxes. |

Is this really a feature? |
Yes I understand what you are trying to do, but currently EE does not display only the people within specific types for each meta box. Selecting specific people types within a person allows that person to be visible from the front end by viewing that type, for example, you may have people that are staff but also speakers at certain events. In which case you would allocate them as staff within the person, but then within the specific event you can select them to be speakers for that event. They will then show up within the event details page for that specific event. If we only display the selected person type within specific meta boxes you wouldn’t be able to do that. So currently what you are seeing is expected behavior. You’ll need to manually select the correct people to be displayed within the correct section for each of your events. |

Dear Tony, as I already said in one of the other threads, I really apprechiate your great support. Maybe we are talking about different things or I am to stupid, which is o.k. 😉 I do not try to achieve something. I’m just wondering why (as you can see in the screenshot above) in the back end in the event editor all people are listed in both boxes and I haven’t done that, it is how EE4 displays it in the event editor. And if this ment to be so I can live with that and I find it strange, that the poeple in those boxes are not filtered according to the types. |
Yes, this is expected behavior. It is allow you to select any person to be any type for that specific event 🙂 That doesn’t work with Male and Female people types because you can’t be a different gender for a specific event, but it is to allow for the most flexibility with selecting people within an event. We do have an open ticket to improve the user interface for ‘people’ so I will add add your use case to that thread but currently all people will show under all people types within an event. |
