EE4 – PayPal Express – Email Address

I think I’m just missing something here, but I can’t seem to find where I enter my PayPal email address to accept payments for registrations. I’m using PayPal Express in EE4. There is no setting at all asking for the email address. I need to be able to add this so my broadcaster knows which IPN to send the response to when PayPal communicates with the website.

I currently have WooCommerce installed that requires PayPal IPN communication with PayPal. If you don’t know, I will tell you… PayPal is a real bugger for only allowing one IPN URL, especially if you have multiple systems requiring PayPal communication.

I have broadcaster that will send the appropriate IPN response to the accompanying IPN listener, but it uses email addresses to differentiate.

So for Woo, I added woo@mydomain.com, and for events, I want to add events@mydomain.com as the email address to be paid.

Then, my broadcaster will send the response to the appropriate system when the listener receives it.

Can someone help me, please? Desperately need to figure this out ASAP. Site goes live tomorrow morning!

Thanks!

You setup the payment method within Event Espresso -> Payment Methods.

You should see PayPal Express listed there.

I currently have WooCommerce installed that requires PayPal IPN communication with PayPal. If you don’t know, I will tell you… PayPal is a real bugger for only allowing one IPN URL, especially if you have multiple systems requiring PayPal communication.

With PayPal Standard, when you pass a notify_url to PayPal it will override whatever you have set for IPN URL in your account so I’m not sure what you mean here?

I have broadcaster that will send the appropriate IPN response to the accompanying IPN listener, but it uses email addresses to differentiate.
So for Woo, I added woo@mydomain.com, and for events, I want to add events@mydomain.com as the email address to be paid.

With our implementation of PayPal Express we don’t use IPN’s.

PayPal Standard uses IPN’s but not Express as it basically POST’s to PayPal to confirm the payment rather than relying on the IPN.

So within EE are you using PayPal Standard or PayPal Express?

Hi Tony,

Thanks so much for responding so quickly!

I am using PayPal Express. So what you’re saying above is that PayPal Express does not use IPN? Does that mean everything is handled through the API?

Thanks!

Correct.

Does that mean everything is handled through the API?

That’s it does 🙂

Did you find the payment methods settings?

Tony, you are AWESOME!

Yes, found the Payment Methods settings. Chose PayPal Express. Entered all my credentials. Seems to be good-to-go.

Just to confirm one more time 🙂 nothing else needs to be done. All transactions through Events Espresso are handled through the API. I DO NOT need to add an IPN url in my PayPal settings for things to operate correctly?

Yes that’s correct, you should not need to do anything else but just to be really clear:

All transactions through the Events Espresso PayPal Express payment method are handled through the API.

Each payment method can (and does) use its own method of integrating with the payment provider.
