I dont have any states in the dropdown list after choosing USA. I tried to create a state manually, but that didnt work either. I made sure to click save during each step of the way, but nothing seems to work.

Hi there,
Is this a new install or an existing site?
If you go to Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Countries.
Select United States in the dropdown there, do you see states listed on that page?

It is a new install.

Hmm strange.
You could try de-activating and re-activating EE.
If that doesn’t work and this is a new install with no registrations you can drop the {prefxi}esp_states table from the database using PHPMyadmin or similar, then revisit the above page again and EE should recreate the states for you.
Backup the database before doing this just to be safe.
