I have a similar issue to this post: https://eventespresso.com/topic/ee4-editing-multiple-attendees-for-one-registration/ On https://rtcorlandoreunion.com and using the Multiple Events addon, I have one paid and approved registration with multiple events that needs to be broken into two separate registrations (the original registrant included a friend, but that friend needs his own main registration). Yes, there are additional registration questions for only the main registrant. I’ve attempted (several times) to change the contact info for individual events within the registration, all unsuccessful; EE4 changes ALL of the events to that same contact, whether it’s the main registration (*) or not. The “new” guy has his own contact entry (in fact, there are now several contact listings for him). Please, please help me understand how to change these registrations/events without changing the original transaction. Thanks! |
Hi there,
How did you do this? Through the registration and then clicking the ‘Edit Contact’ button?
You mean the registrations rather than event, right? EE isn’t changing them to the same contact, the registrations are all assigned to the same contact, so when you change the contact any registrations assigned to that contact use those details (that may sounds nit picky but its important for the next step).
How does he have several? Can you post the steps you’ve taken to get multiple contacts? — When you create group registrations without the ‘Personal Information’ question group selected for additional registrants on your events EE assigns all of the registrations to the primary registrations contact. So to change the details of 1 single registration (or several from within a group other than the primary) you need to break that relationship and have EE create a new contact for that registration. Right now you’ll have a list of registrations for that user, if you view that list and select a registration that is NOT the primary registration, then look where the edit contact button usually is, is there also a ‘Create Contact’ button? – http://take.ms/9I8fv The primary registrant list will have |

Hi, Tony, and thanks. I will give you more details below. I’ve attempted (several times) to change the contact info for individual events within the registration, all unsuccessful; How did you do this? Through the registration and then clicking the ‘Edit Contact’ button? >>>YES, THIS IS HOW I TRIED TO CHANGE IT, OBVIOUSLY UNSUCCESSFULLY MOST OF THE TIME. EE4 changes ALL of the events to that same contact, whether it’s the main registration (*) or not. You mean the registrations rather than event, right? >>>WELL, YES. I’M ASSUMING THAT EVERYTHING IS A REGISTRATION, WHEREAS I THOUGHT JUST THE MAIN REGISTRATION WAS “REGISTRATION” AND THE INDIVIDUAL TICKETS WERE “EVENTS.” EE isn’t changing them to the same contact, the registrations are all assigned to the same contact, so when you change the contact any registrations assigned to that contact use those details (that may sounds nit picky but its important for the next step). The “new” guy has his own contact entry (in fact, there are now several contact listings for him). How does he have several? Can you post the steps you’ve taken to get multiple contacts? >>>I HONESTLY DON’T REMEMBER HOW I MANAGED THAT, SORRY. I KNOW I TRIED CHANGING THE CONTACT INFO FOR THE MAIN REGISTRATION (*) A FEW TIMES, AND THEN I TRIED DOING THE SAME FOR A NON-MAIN REGISTRATION (AN “EVENT” TO ME). RIGHT NOW, THE SECOND GUY (REGISTRANT #2) ACTUALLY HAS THE MAIN REGISTRATION (*) AND ONE OF THE “EVENTS” UNDER HIS OWN NAME. AGAIN, I DON’T REMEMBER EXACTLY HOW I DID THAT. 🙁 — When you create group registrations without the ‘Personal Information’ question group selected for additional registrants on your events EE assigns all of the registrations to the primary registrations contact. So to change the details of 1 single registration (or several from within a group other than the primary) you need to break that relationship and have EE create a new contact for that registration. >>>HOW DO I BREAK THE RELATIONSHIP, PLEASE? THE REGISTRATIONS ARE ALREADY PAID FOR, AND OF COURSE THE LOCK IS PRESENT BECAUSE THE TRANSACTION IS COMPLETE. Right now you’ll have a list of registrations for that user, if you view that list and select a registration that is NOT the primary registration, then look where the edit contact button usually is, is there also a ‘Create Contact’ button? – http://take.ms/9I8fv >>>YES, WHEN I VIEW THE DETAILS, THE “CREATE CONTACT” IS THERE. The primary registrant list will have * 1 / X (1 of X, X being the group size) in the registration list, for example the bottom registration here is the primary – http://take.ms/i3Z5N >>>YES, I SEE THE PRIMARY REGISTRATION HAS THE *. THERE ARE 12 “EVENTS” IN ALL, AND I SEE THE 1/12, 2/12, ETC. I HAVE TO CHANGE 2/12, 4/12, 6/12, 8/12, 10/12, AND 12/12 TO THE OTHER REGISTRANT. |
Ok, so 2/12 has the correct details assigned to it? Go to 4/12 and click the ‘Create contact’ button. EE will create a new contact for that registration, when you click that button it copies the current contact details and makes another, so it will look like the original contact. Edit the details and save. Now when the registration list again, does only 4/12 have the new contact details? |
