I am trying to test EE4 for compatibility with our site. How do I run it (Activate it with a site key or whatever) without disabling the main site.
Currently I have the main site running EE3 and have installed a copy of that site into a subdirectory and have installed the EE4 files there. Do I need a special key for it? How do I go about this?

Hi Shannon,
How are you today?
You only receive one support license key for automatic upgrades. You do not need your license key to activate Event Espresso. So, you can run EE3 and EE4 on different websites (but not the same site).

Hi Shannon,
The License key is used for Support and One click upgrades.
You can install EE4 within your test site and use as normal without the License key installed.
Be sure to create a full site back up (just to be safe), we have a guide available here:

Although of course you may use other methods depending on you setup/host.
