Basically, I customers cant register for events anymore. It gives the following error message: An error has occurred: It all started when my support key got deactivated. I dont know why. I installed EE4 on my development server but never used the support key (as instructed). My dev server is located at dev-server.bargotickets.com So the dev server is able to register customers but my live server cant. (www.bargotickets.com but you can bypass the spash page by going to http://www.bargotickets.com/demo2016) I deleted the core EE plugin and updated to the latest version but that still did not help. I still get that error message. |
I also dont use any caching plugins as other users with similar problems were doing. |
Hi there, The registration seems to work fine if you start from here: https://www.bargotickets.com/ee-event/cramer-ice-cream-tasting/ If you’re having trouble elsewhere you can go to Event Espresso > Registration Form > Settings and disable the bot trap there. |
Hi Josh, Thanks for your reply. I have disabled the bot trap but it still does not work. When I click on “Add to Event cart” the crane spines and then it dissapears. It no longer gives the confirmation message that the event has been added to the cart. Could you please log in and check what the issue may be? ** Remove ** – Tony

Im talking about when customers reach the homepage and click the ice cream event and they click on “Register today”. Then the system used to give a confirmation message when they click on “add to event cart” but now it doesnt. This happened spontaneously. |
Also, when I click on “Checkout” there are no items in the cart. The only way that works is https://www.bargotickets.com/ee-event/cramer-ice-cream-tasting/ but I want customers to use it the way it has always been…ie: from the homepage not the direct link |
Please reset the password on that account immediately. These forums are publicly accessible, you really do not want to be posting login credentials here. If we need login details to view a site you can use this form: https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ Have you installed or updated any plugins between when it worked and now? Can you enable WP_DEBUG so we can run a test registration and see if any errors are being thrown please. |
I have changed the password on that username. no i have not installed any plugins from when it worked until now. It just happend on its own, spontaneously. I am activating WP_Debug right away. |
I have activated WP_Debug You may proceed to run a test registration 🙂 |
I have also sent the temporary username and passwords via the form. Did you get them? |
Hi there, I just checked and we have not received login details. Can you resend them using the above form please. |
okay I will resent within 2 minutes…. |
I just sent it. Did you get it now? |
Yes, we have received them. However your theme (or possibly a plugin) is throwing multiple notices which prevents login and EE from working correctly. Swap out your debug code for this:
That enabled WPDebug but does not display any errors to the browser, it just logs them within a debug.log file on your server. |
thank you for that. please try to log in again. 🙂 |
OK, So I managed to log in and take a look at the event. Can I ask why you are using the iFrame version of the ticket selector within your events section? This section – http://take.ms/3oFyW Is loading via an iFrame, but you could just use [ESPRESSO_TICKET_SELECTOR event_id=your_event_id] in its place to use the ticket selector within the page itself. That should just allow the registrations to work in the same way they do on the directly link. |
hi, okay let me try that quickly. will that solve the problem? |
I have used the method you told me. There are noticeable differences: 1.) The “look” is not the way it used to be. For example, the orange button is now grey. |
Please browse to dev-server.bargotickets.com and do a test registration for the featured NAMAS event. You will see that there it is working perfectly. Please, compare the versions of the Event Espresso multiple cart plugin on dev server, with the live server. I believe this plugin is causing the problem. The login credentials for the dev-server are the same as for the live server. |
Perhaps I should just “roll back” to the older version of Event Espresso before I did the update for all the plugins. But I dont know how. On the dev server, only the core plugin of event espresso is updated to the latest version. The other event espresso plugins are not updated (on the dev-server_. |
have rolled back the multi events cart plugin to the prervious version i was using. It is now working again!! Please have a look! |
I rolled it back to the same version as it is on the development server. and it is now working as it did before (with the iFrame scripts). |
Perhaps you could just tell me how to prevent Event Espresso from automatically updating all plugins by itself in the future? Should I remove my license key? will that help? I prefer updating each individual plugin manually from now on. Also, Please could you tell me where to change the orange button link to which it points? Im referring to the orange button labelled “add to cart” which when the user clicks it changes to “View event Cart”. I would like that button to point to the same address as the Checkout link (located on the top menu to the far right). |
Event Espresso does not automatically update any plugins on your site, it will alert you when an update is available but it will never automatically push that update to your site. That has always been a manual process. So the live site had updates done between when it was working and when it was not?
If using the iFrame it won’t work like that. Which site are you referring to here the dev or live? |
Herewith a summary on the chronicles of events: |
Are we not allowed to install the same event espresso on a development server? Is this why my activation key was disabled? Note, I didnt use the activation key on the development server. I only installed the plugins (without the key). Can you please tell me why it got deactivated to prevent this in future? |
and with regards to the button issue. I was referring to the LIVE server |
You are allowed to install Event Espresso on a development server.
Installing the software in of itself will not disable a key.
The same key was entered on dev-server.bargotickets.com where it was also registered to http://www.bargotickets.com. This will trigger an invalid API error on one site, and an invalid install key error on the other site. You can prevent this in the future by only using the key on one of the sites. |

Thank you so much for your help guys. |
So since the fix to this problem is to use the older version of the EE multi cart plugin, are you guys gonna fix the latest update? Iv seen that many other customers have similar issues with this specific plugin, on your forums. |
We haven’t been able to reproduce the error you reported with the current version. If someone can outline the steps to reproduce the issue we’ll investigate further. |
