I am now using the EE 4.9.4p. Both my customer and I have noticed that when we add a new registration to an event on the backend (logged into Wp-admin) – the system sometimes “freezes” and the “Processing” screen hangs. This sometimes causes incomplete registrations that can show an overpayment on the registration.
This doesn’t happen at all times – but has seemed to crop up more and more lately.
Can you go to Event Espresso -> Maintenance -> System Information.
Search for wp_memory and post what value is shown there please.
There are a few possible reasons for this but if its intermittent the first thing to check is your site is not running out of memory. Do you have access to the servers error logs?
It could be that your site is running close to max memory which means sometimes it’ll work fine, but then others not (when it hits the limit during your request).
Note right now this is just a guess without any kind of error message to go on, although more memory can’t hurt.
You can also contact your host to see if they have any upgrade options to avoid the condition where the server is under heavy load.
