I finally committed – and bought the $279 version of EE4. I uploaded the plugin, per the instructions.
NOW my site is dead. This is all I can see:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare espresso_version() (previously declared in /home/content/i/s/s/issaphoenix/html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/espresso.php:104) in /home/content/i/s/s/issaphoenix/html/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/espresso.php on line 36

I don’t know what to do at this point.

It looks like a refund is, at minimum, in order.

Hi there,

Did you follow the steps posted here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-upgrade-event-espresso/#complete-the-migration

The reason you are getting the error is you have activated both EE3 and EE4 at the same time, you can only have one version of Event Espresso activate at any one time.

To remove the error either EE3 or EE4 needs to be de-activated on your site, as your now getting a fatal error this needs to be done via FTP.

If you log into the site via FTP and navigate to /wp-content/plugins/

You will find a folder called ‘event-espresso’ (that’s EE3) and ‘event-espresso-core-reg’.

You need to rename one of those to de-activate that version, for example to de-activate EE3 you rename ‘event-espresso’ to anything other than its current name, so ‘event-espresso-temp’ will work for this.

Then visit your dashboard.

If you are unsure I can do the above for you if you send FTP credentials using this form:
