Hi,
We are checking EE4 on a dev site before moving on the prod site.
In admin view, looking at the events:
a. By default they show from the most recent ID to the oldest. In EE3, the default was to show the upcoming events in date order. Can we change EE4 settings to do this as well?
This is frustrating and wasting time to have to filter/sort things to actually be able to start working (daily recurring operation to manage events/registrations).
b. Using the filter by category and upcoming does not show the upcoming events which are already sold out. We need to see all the upcoming events! “Upcoming” is not contrary to “sold out”. Is there some workaround to make it behave like EE3 events overview?
We were trying to find the definitions of the event statuses, as the “active” status is not clear to us.
Thanks,
Blandine

Hi there,

No because there isn’t a setting that changes this.

b. Using the filter by category and upcoming does not show the upcoming events which are already sold out. We need to see all the upcoming events! “Upcoming” is not contrary to “sold out”. Is there some workaround to make it behave like EE3 events overview?

That may be a bug or something unintended happened with that upcoming filter. I’m going to make a ticket for one of the developers to look into why sold out events are not included when viewing the Upcoming filtered view.

We were trying to find the definitions of the event statuses, as the “active” status is not clear to us.

Active means the event is happening right now.

Hi, I work on the event page everyday, several times a day. The EE4 event page functions are extremely hard to understand and a clear waste of my time. What took 1 click is now several clicks to not even see what events I have upcoming!

1) is there a way not to show expired events in the list? When I click on start date, it shows me events from 2013 that I do not care about! Can you imagine in 3 years, scrolling down 6 years of events (more than 500 events a year)!

2) The upcoming filter had been a concern already in posts from 2015 (https://eventespresso.com/topic/ee4-sold-out-events-not-shown-in-upcoming-list-admin-view/). How do I know if it will ever be fixed/changed?

3) The EE3 event view page was extremely user friendly. I love new features of EE4, but to be honest, if the event page cannot show all upcoming events, how can I manage my events? I am to the point of dropping EE4 just because of that, after 3 years loving EE3!

Thanks for your help in this matter.

When the Upcoming filter is fixed so it includes the sold out events we’ll update this thread.

When I click on start date, it shows me events from 2013 that I do not care about!

If you click on the down arrow that appears next to “Event Start” in the column heading it will reverse the order so you won’t see those older events.

Any time frame on when it will be fixed as it was already like that more than 1 year ago?

I know how to click on the down arrow, but then it shows me events starting from September 2017!!! It is extremely difficult to work like that and look for events in the middle of 400 events!

To be clear, in the thread you linked to a year ago there was some miscommunication and a misunderstanding so no bug was reported to the developers. So there is a bug report now, and that’s been handed over to the dev team and it should be a simple bug to fix which won’t take too long.

That makes more sense. Thanks so much.

Update: Event Espresso 4.9.22.p includes a fix so sold out events are included in the Upcoming Event filtered view.
