Hello,

I have a question about the Event places management in EE4.
I can see that there are the following fields in back-end to create the page of an Event place:
*Address 1
*Address 2
*City
*State
*Postcode
*Country
Please find here the screenshot of an example from my website: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4-hsazMWUExYVowY3NYTmNMSm8

Here are my questions:

* I can see that the City is a free field: can we make it not free anymore but with a list such as the one existing for the States? If not, do you know if we will have problem if we use the field “State” to fufill the town: is there a maximum number of rows for this field in EE4 for exemple?
I ask you this because we have the problem that sometimes cities are wronlgy written and this makes us 2 different data in the database although it should be the same city: let’s say that I write “Paris” in an event and then “Pari” in another, I will have 2 cities in the database but actually the right one is only “Paris”.

* What data exactly triggers the showup of the Google map: postcode? address? city? I know that first the Google map option has to be turned on for the event of course but my question is what is the necessary data from these EE4 fields that make this Google Map localization possible and precise?

Thanks for your answers

Currently you can not change the question type for City and will likely find that using the ‘State’ field for City’s will cause more problems further down the line as the state fields are not expected to be used as city through Event Espresso.

Repurposing system questions for any other use than originally intended is highly discouraged and will eventually end badly.

The full address is passed over to the Google Maps API, unfortunately the information needed for each location to be accurate is often different, sometime full address is needed, other you need to omit address line 2 from the address for it to work. We don’t have any control over the Maps API other than to pass over the details we have for the venue and google determines the location.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer, we will try to find a solution by ourselves on the City problem. Concerning Google Map, I’m sad that we don’t know what necessary field have to be fufilled to make it work but OK, I understand why it’s complicated to know.

Kind Regards
