Hello,

All of my emails seemed to be working fine. People were getting their registration or payment email confirmations but I was just notified that this has stopped.

I have looked through the Message Activity and all the messages are stuck in the Failed Sending section. These are the errors I see:

An error has occurred:
No message was sent because of problems with sending. Either all the messages you selected were not a sendable message, they were ALREADY sent on a different scheduled task, or there was an error. If there was an error, you can look at the messages in the message activity list table for any error messages.

Message was not executed successfully.
Messenger and Message Type were valid and active, but the messenger send method failed.
The email did not send successfully.
The WordPress wp_mail function is used for sending mails but does not give any useful information when an email fails to send.
It is possible the “to” address ( ) or “from” address ( ) is invalid.

I can’t seem to find what has cause this problem. All we have done is update EE when there is a plugin update available.

Other emails from the website (contact forms) are being delivered with no issue. Also, when I send test emails from the email templates, they do arrive.

I’m not a WP or EE expert so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Alex

Hi Alex,

The first thing to check is what’s set in the To: and From: fields of your message templates. You can check those in Event Espresso > Messages > Default Message Templates. Each activated message type will have its own set of templates, and the To: and From: fields must have a valid email address or a shortcode that will parse to a valid email address.

If those fields look good, then it may help if we can take a look at one of your event’s registrations form. Can you post a link to an event page on your website so we can take a look?

Hi Josh,

Thank you for the prompt reply. I am using Custom Templates and this is what the fields say: FROM: [CO_FORMATTED_EMAIL] and TO:[RECIPIENT_EMAIL]. They were working fine before.

I have been doing a lot of reading and I came across a post from Lorenzo about GoDaddy’s Managed WP Hosting (GoDaddy Managed WP). That is the one thing we have actually changed. Didn’t even think about that. I did what Lorenzo suggested with the cache but I’m not sure it’s made any difference.

Here is a link to an event.

GoDaddy’s built in email server might not be able to use
[CO_FORMATTED_EMAIL]
can you try switching the From fields to use
[CO_EMAIL] or set your company’s email address there instead? Also, please be sure to check the email address in Event Espresso > General Settings. The email address there is what ends up being used when those shortcodes are parsed.

With regards to the event link, can you try posting that link again?

Ok Josh I think I may have fixed this. I went and registered myself and I see that the emails were generated and now they show as sent. They did take a bit but they have arrived.

I of course have a lot of emails so I will follow your instructions found here, to delete emails and resend. Fingers crossed but it looks like the cache thing does the trick!!

Will keep you posted!

Hey Josh,

I think everything seems to be working now. I will close the topic but will reach out if I notice any other issues with this.

Thanks so much,
Alex
