We’re using the new EE4 and have set up a “date” question in order to capture a date of birth of an attendee.

The form has no ability to set a date range and consequently it only goes back to 2004 and forward to 2024.

Given that it’s possible that people would want to use this as a DOB field, can I recommend the addition of a “date range” field when selecting a “Date” type question.

Also – as a follow up…. ummm.. how / where do I edit this?

Hi Lee,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I’ve confirmed what you’re seeing.

Please select an earlier or later year and you’ll see that the year you select will become the middle value in the drop-down. We’re going to try and increase the default year range.

As an interum solution until we can get fixed (hopefully soon) users can be instructed to type the date (e.g. dd/mm/yyyy) or choose a date closer to their required date and the drop-down menu will change. Not ideal but we’ll try to fix it soon.

Regarding the date range question type. Can you create a start and end date range question or will that not work?

Hey Garth, thanks for your quick response (the support you guys provide really is exceptional).

We’d prefer to keep the Date of Birth question to a single field, obviously.

Do you know where the date range field can be edited in the files? I’ve been trying to track down from where EE loads the calendar, but can’t seem to find it.

Cheers,

Lee

Yes, the DOB should be used as one field. Makes sense.

Regarding the date selector that’s above my pay grade. I’ll see if a developer can chime in or if it’s easier to just get fixed.

The developer said it will be tricky to tell you how to make the change. We plan to release a fix tomorrow or Thursday.

Hi Lee,

We’ve added 80 years prior to now and 20 years after as the default, take a look: http://www.screencast.com/t/2dpCz8wgn8

This should be released later today.
