Hi there:

Like this post, I’m expriencing the identical error message of “Cannot load espresso_venues” when I attempt to view or edit a venue. I’ve isolated which plugin is causing the error, and it’s EventON, a plugin that must be enabled on my site.

What do you advise?

Hi Vee,

I advise contacting eventON to see if they can fix. Their plugin should not be breaking the venues functionality.

Hi Josh. Thanks for the prompt reply. EventOn said the same thing to me. I really need both plugins operating contemporaneously.

Is EventON on github.com? If so we can take a look at their code and point out where it’s breaking Event Espresso.

Hi again, Josh:

I don’t know if it’s on GitHub. I took a cursory look, and I see two links called EventON, but I’m unsure whether it’s the same one. I purchased the plugin off Code Canyon.

Hi Vee,

It doesn’t look like they are on GitHub, can you send us the latest version of the plugin so we can install it on a test site and take a look?

If so please send a copy to support[at]eventespresso.com

Depending on the file size you may need to host the file on Dropbox or similar and email the link we can use to download it from there.

Hi Tony: Here’s a copy of the plugin.\

Thanks. Most recently, now the event I could previously register for on the website is producing the following screen when a person chooses to purchase a ticket: “Registration Checkout
Nothing in your Event Queue. You need to select at least one event before you can proceed with the registration process.” It was previously working perfectly and had even accepted payment from a registrant.

Finally, in the last three days, since the new EE4 update was released, on any page on the back-end of WP, I am hit with 40ish error/dialogue boxes stating info like this:

“Database table aafcp2_esp_answer exists when it shouldn’t, and may contain erroneous data. If you have previously restored your database from a backup that didn’t remove the old tables, then we recommend adding

define( ‘EE_DROP_BAD_TABLES’, TRUE );

to your wp-config.php file then restore to that backup again. This will clear out the invalid data from aafcp2_esp_answer. Afterwards you should undo that change from your wp-config.php file.
If you cannot edit wp-config.php, you should remove the data from aafcp2_esp_answer manually then restore to the backup again.”

What does this all mean, and how do I resolve it? The conflict is massive!

Thanks for your consideration.

Is there any caching running on your site?

If didn’t restore your database from a backup that didn’t remove the old tables, you can disregard those messages in the admin.

Hi Vee,

It might be something other that simply activating the EventON plugin that’s causing your Venues error. I loaded up the copy of EventON on a test site and the venue editor continues to work as expected.

Hi Josh:

When I was troubleshooting, I noted deactiviating EventOn was what allowed me to add venues to EE4 (I’d get an error screen otherwise).

Also, my website has just gone down. Is this at all related?

It may be something on your site that’s contributing to the error with the venues. Like I mentioned before, I have EventON activated right now, and I can edit/create venues.

Your website isn’t down when I browse to it, you might contact your host to inquire if they’ve had some downtime today.

Thanks Josh for your super prompt replies and exemplary support. If you have any suggestions on how I can isolate the problem contributing to the lack of events screen and get EE4 to work correctly, I’d appreciate it. I really do need EE4 functional and no updates were made between the time it was correctly working and the time those bizarre 40 dialogue boxes/error messages appeared and things went off the rails.

Can you post a link to the event page so we can take a look at that Nothing in your event queue error? Also, can you try going to Event Espresso > Maintenance > Reset, then click the reset Event Espresso Capabilities button?

Vee

Here’s the event link

If I reset the EE capabilities, will I lose my current event?

Again, thank you a million times for your help 🙂

If you click the reset Event Espresso Capabilities button only, you will not lose the event. The other buttons on the Maintenance page will delete events and registrations. So please be sure to only click the button that says Capabilities.

One thing that might help here since there are two events plugins activated, is to change the Event Slug for Event Espresso. Can you go to Event Espresso > Events > Templates and change the Event Slug setting to something like upcoming-events ?

Josh, you are BRILLIANT! Changing the event slug indeed worked! Do you recommend I still reset Event Espresso Capabilities?

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! 😀

If you’re still having troubles with editing venues, yes, you can still try the Reset Event Espresso Capabilities button.
