Hi Hans,

Regardless of BuddyPress, EE3 has an addon called WP User Integration (Members for short). This will allow you to force users to have to log in to register for events and also provides the My Events on the profile or front end.

EE4 cannot currently achieve this as Members doesn’t exist yet for EE4.

Near future? Well, we cannot disclose our roadmap at this time as it is in perpetual flux and we don’t want to get peoples hopes up.

EE4 runs off of Custom Post Types so in theory a membership plugin would be able to lock the events to stop them being accessed by a non logged in user. The only thing you wouldn’t get would be the My Events details.

So, would it be more ideal to buy EE3? After what I have read it will not be further developed, and since this is a big project I dont want to start using EE3 and then get a lot of work in the near future to “convert” to EE4.

Hi,

Your needs seem to point towards using EE3 at this time. EE4 will be able to migrate over data, but if you modify any of the templates in EE3 those will not get ported over.

That was not the answer i wanted…:-) So, me buying EE4 yesterday was a mistake I guess. Is it possible to change the license to EE3?

Hi,

It should be yes, but there is a price difference. If you email sales@eventespresso.com they will be able to help you.
