I’ve uploaded from lite to pro but WP still states Lite as the plug in. How do I upgrade? |
Hi Jason, Event Espresso Lite and Premium are actually 2 separate plugins. It is always advisible to backup your site before updating plugins/themes. We have a guide for doing so available here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/ You’ll need to de-activate and delete the Lite version, then download the Premium version of the Plugin from Your Account Page, upload that version of the Plugin and activate. None of your events/settings will be lost as they are all stored within the database. We have a guide to manually updating Event Espresso available here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/updating-event-espresso/#update_manually Once you have the Premium version of the plugin installed, input your site license key (Event Espresso -> General Settings) you’ll then be able to use the auto update feature for future version of Event Espresso. |

That’s great thanks Tony. While you’re here I’m trying to add a description to an event but every time I update the page the text disappears? At the moment I can’t add an image or text to any event I have created. Jason |
Are you now using EE3 Premium or did you choose to use EE4? Your issue is likely caused by either a Plugin or Theme conflict. Within the event does the editor have extra buttons added to it? (Theme adding custom shortcodes for example) |
nope clean menu with no plug conflict as far as I know other than your other plug-ins. I have a gallery shortcode generator but that doesn’t show up on your editor and is integral to how the site works. Any ideas? No use to me if I can’t put descriptions into the event. Jason |
Hi Jason, Are you using EE3 or EE4? |
Hi Dean sorry EE3 |
Thanks. It does sound like a plugin or theme conflict. Most likely the plugin or theme in question is modifying the TinyMCE editor (the post/event editor) and adding in extra buttons. You have a couple of choices: 1) Troubleshoot the site by deactivating all plugins except EE. If that resolves the issue activate each plugin one by one, testing each time, until the problem plugin is found. 2) Try this plugin which tries to stop extra buttons being added to the Event editor – https://github.com/joshfeck/remove-extra-editor-buttons – there’s a download zip button in the bottom right.

Hi as I said previously. There are no extra buttons on your editor to get rid of! |
Nothing extra running apart from your plugins and the usual askimet etc. When I try and update with description text in place it vanishes from the editor. Not happy at all and if it can’t be fixed I will want a full refund please. Jason |

Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this? If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ NOTE: login details need to be Admin level and FTP details are appreciated. |

Done thanks Jason |

Apologies I forgot about the gallery plugin! Inpost Gallery is the culprit by the looks of it. Does this now mean that I can’t use your product if I’m running that plug in as it’s an important part of the site layout on certain pages |
Hi Jason, Although buttons may not appear, plugins attempting to add buttons to the TinyMCE editor within EE will cause these issues. I installed Inpost Gallery and found it does load on the EE Editor although with no visible icon, if you hover next to the ‘Toolbar Toggle’ icon you’ll find the button there – http://take.ms/CiVAe In order to use both Event Espresso and Inpost Gallery the functionality must be removed from the EE Editor. This can be done using the Plugin Josh created with some slight modifications. I have modified the plugin to remove the Inpost Gallery from the Event Espresso Editor, you can download that here: http://take.ms/fqaBx Install that through Dahsboard -> Plugins -> Add New -> Upload. Then activate it. You can then use EE and Inpost at the same time, although the Events will not use the Inpost Gallery functionality. Hope that helps. |

Hi I’ve done that but don’t see the Inpost icon in the editor on normal pages? Jason |
It seems that plugun is applying to all post types. You can either edit the remove-extra-editor-buttons-master/espresso-disable-extra-buttons.php file. Line 31 will be: if (isset($_REQUEST['action']) && ($_REQUEST['action'] == 'add_new_event' || $_REQUEST['action'] == 'edit')) { Change that for: if ((isset($_REQUEST['action']) && $_REQUEST['action'] == 'add_new_event') || ((isset($_REQUEST['page']) && $_REQUEST['page'] == 'events') && (isset($_REQUEST['action']) && $_REQUEST['action'] == 'edit'))) { Which will then only remove Inpost Gallery for the EE editor. Or de-activate and delete the current remove-extra-editor-buttons plugin and replace with this one which has that line edited already – http://take.ms/UhpBr |

Hi, I logged in just to check and everything seems to be working fine now, can you confirm this? |
Hi – I’ve re-uploaded the file. I still get no button on the editor but Inpost is now part of the page options below the description. Only problem now is that it won’t add slides or insert the shortcodes when you try and press the buttons. Take a look at the page ‘Hoverball’ gallery is ready to go I just can’t add it 🙁 |
Hi Jason, That is due to either a conflict with another plugin, or another plugin throwing a JavaScript error which then stops any other JS from working. Looking within console we can see that ‘Custom Facebook Feed’ is throwing a JavaScript error (http://take.ms/0SXDK) which may be stopping Inpost working correctly. I would start by de-activating the Custom Facebook Feed plugin and checking it Inpost then works. |

Hi that works thanks. Issue I have now is that the buttons aren’t being shown on our calendar page for some reason? http://www.longbowevents.com/index.php/events-calendar/ Jason |
I’ve fixed that it was an issue with your template design plugin. I have another issue sorry! Just bought the template calendar table plug in and it has (band/artist) at the top of the page. How do I change that? Also it doesn’t show up the ‘where’ or the short version as in your screenshot: http://www.longbowevents.com/index.php/booking-and-prices/book-an-archery-tag-game/ thanks Jason |
Hi Jason,
Could you explain this a little further please? EE doesn’t have a template design plugin. To change the title of the Calendar Table Template you can use the ‘change_title’ attribute, so the shortcode would look similar to this: [EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW template_name=”calendar-table” change_title=”My new title”] Does that help? In regards to ‘Where’ are you using the Venue manager (Event Espresso -> General Settings -> ‘Use Venue Manager’) to manager the venues or adding them within the event itself? |
Hi it’s not the title. Check the link. Top line above the date you will see Band/artist which I don’t want as we don’t sell band tickets. ‘Where’ in the listing is not viewable where an address should be and the general layout doesn’t match your screen shots there is too much info shown |
Are you referring to here? http://take.ms/zOKaM If so that is changed using the change_title parameter within the shortcode as mentioned previously.
It all depends on how your events are set up. What information would you not like to be displayed? In order for the Venue Address info to be displayed within the Calendar Table Template you need to be using the Venue Manager. Enable that within Event Espresso -> General Settings. Set Use Venue Manager to Yes and update the settings. Then you’ll find a new menu under Event Espresso. Venue Manager. Create your venue there, adding the address etc. Then within your event editor select that venue for the event. ‘Where’ will then be populated using the data from the selected venue. |
OK when you say to change the shortcode to get rid of Band/Artist – how exactly? [EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW template_name=”calendar-table” max_days=”30″ category_identifier=”tag”] Which part of that do I change please? Jason |
In that example you would use: [EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW template_name=”calendar-table” max_days=”30″ category_identifier=”tag” change_title=”My new title”] Which would change ‘Band/Artist’ to ‘My new title’ If you would like to completely remove that row from the table the easiest way is using CSS and with a Plugin such as My Custom CSS to include the code: .cal-table-list .cal-header { display: none; } Which will then display like this – http://take.ms/W2MAL |
