A newly created event that includes a description doesn’t appear on the event page that includes the Event Category shortcode. Event Options for Description is Yes.

Hi,

We received your request for priority support. The description now displays (I changed a setting in Event Espresso > Template settings)

Also, the issue with “Clicking View Details or View Cart loops back to the Classes page” is fixed. The problem was the registration page setting for the Event Page did not contain the shortcode: [ESPRESSO_EVENTS]. So what I did was move the page out of the trash that had [ESPRESSO_EVENTS], then set that page so it’s the registration page again.

Thank you. Is there a way to modify the ‘View Details’ or ‘View Cart’ in this circumstance? Ideally, we’d like to use this button instead.

A button image cannot be used there without digging into PHP templates.

I added some CSS to your site’s Customize > Additional CSS page that gives the link text a similar look as a button. If you want to tweak the text styles those can be changed a bit by changing the values set there.

You have been so helpful. Please help me understand why the registration page is displaying an Inactive event from 2015. https://www.societyofgilders.org/education/upcoming-class/

I have asked the client why they are choosing to insert the category shortcode on the current-classes page instead of [ESPRESSO_EVENTS]. If I determine categories is a wonky user workaround and add the shortcode back as it was years ago… Where do I designate this page as the registration page?

The reason that event is still shown is because its registration end date was set to 2025-08-01. You could change that to 2015-08-01 and it will go away.

You cannot actually set a page that doesn’t use [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] as the registration page. If you do that, you’ll see the same issue again where clicking View Details or View Cart loops back to the Classes page. In other words, you can use the event category shortcode on a page to list events, but that same shortcode cannot be used for registration.

Aha! It’s all coming back to me now. Troubleshooting 4-5 years later is a pain.
