EE3 [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode not working when not set as WordPress front-page

Hi guys,

As instructed, my site has a page “Event Registration” with the shortcode [ESPRESSO_EVENTS]. In addition to the other pages, I also have a page “Event List” with the [EVENT_LIST] shortcode. If my site’s front-page is set to the Event Registration page, it works fine. When I set the front-page to the Event List page, I can see the list on that page but when I click to register for a specific event the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] breaks and simply shows the shortcode and not the event. I would like to have that Event List as my front-page.

I only have EE Version 3.1.37.6.P installed with no add-ons, WordPress 4.4.1

I did have EE4 installed, deleted all the tables and started from scratch so there could be an issue there.. but Im thinking it’s hopefully something much more simple.

Best,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Installing EE4 could very well have messed things up in this case, because in Event Espresso 4, there isn’t an [EVENT_LIST] shortcode, and EE4 will go through and change it to [ESPRESSSO_EVENTS] because that’s the equivalent shortcode in EE4 for displaying lists of events.

You should be able to fix this by setting up some new pages with those shortcodes, and when you do you’ll want to make sure they have unique Page titles and slugs. After you set up the pages, you’ll set the page that has [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] to be the main registration page in Event Espresso > General Settings. Then, you set the page that has [EVENT_LIST] to be the static front page.

Ahh– This worked, thanks! My problem was that I thought I could re-use the same name/slug, since the old pages were totally deleted. Once I put in a new page name/slug it worked fine.

Best to you guys
