Hi Jerrad,

Thank you for reporting this. Please ignore that update notification and do not upgrade to this version. We’re currently investigating why this is happening.

Received the same notice and updated not realizing. Good thing I always back up my webpage before I update anything, or this would have been a big issue.

I did it… and I did not back up. I have lost everything.

I deactivated the EE4 push and reinstalled EE3. My data is back and all is well. But wow, guys… you may need to send an urgent message out–or pull that one ASAP! What a disaster! Cost me a few hours this morning that I really didn’t have to spare.

We haven’t gotten an answer that makes sense why the update notifications for ee4 decaf started appearing for users of EE3. In the meantime, we’ve released Event Espresso 3.1.37.p.

The update notification for 3.1.37.p will supersede any decaf notifications so long as Event Espresso 3 is an activated plugin.

You may need to reset your key after the notification switches to say 3.1.37.p is available as an update. If that happens, please request a free key reset from your account page.

Can you tell us what files you made changes to in the plugin? I have done some modifying of a few non-template files and want to update only the files that fix the issue.

Thanks!

Jerrad

Hi Jerrad,

I can advise doing a diff then merge on the files you modified with the new version. There are too many files that were changed to list them all here.

This update could not have come at a worst time. We just opened registration for our summer conference this afternoon and now this EE3 update has a list of changes a mile long. Is it imperative that I do this update now or can I wait?

BTW – I am getting the following message, “You have the correct Support License Key for Event Espresso but your account only allows for automatic upgrades on one domain. Please log in to your Event Espresso account to manage your Support License Keys or purchase a support license right now.” I clicked the green link on my account to have the license reset. Do I need to take my license key out of my setup on my website like the directions say? If yes, won’t that kill my live registration that’s currently taking place while I wait? Sorry to sound frantic and frustrated but I am really stressed out right now and I don’t want our registration to start off on the wrong foot.

Hi Jerrad,

While we do recommend keeping the plugin updated, holding off will not cause major issues, the 3.1.37 is not a security or major bug fix, rather it covers a wide range of fixes and feature additions.

I’ve done a licence key reset, you should receive an email and removing/adding a licence key will NOT affect the plugin’s functionality, so no need to worry about that.

Thanks Dean for getting my license key reset. All fixed there. I’ll look over the file differences this weekend and add my modifications to the new files.

If I upload the new files to my server using FTP, should I delete the old files/folders first and then upload the new files OR can I just upload overwriting what’s already there?

It is recommended to delete the previous files and then upload the new versions.

Be sure to have a full site backup before doing so, just to be safe.
