Server requests for any admin page take 10x as long as when EE is deactivated. In particular, admin-ajax needs 3x as long to load. Altogether, every admin page takes about 15-20s (!) to finish loading and to provide all js-enabled UI parts. The website itself loads just as slowly. This is on a new local dev install with wp5.5 (5.6 was worse), Apache on Windows, php 7.4, 512MB max memory limit. There is only one event set up with no registrations. I have tried disabling all other plugins; the site stays slow until I switch off EE. Console shows no js errors. However, I did not observe this effect with the “decaf” version, which I had tested before I purchased a licence. So I’m a bit stunned here. Please help ๐
Hi Tony, thank you for your reply. Debug bar never showed anything meaningful and neither the logs. So this is a server problem. I have found that xdebug is responsible for slowing down the entire site when Event Espresso is activated. I disabled xdebug autostart and now everything runs smoothly and fast. But I need xdebug. Would be very grateful for tips on making EE and xdebug work together ๐
Personally, I use Laragon on Windows on haven’t noticed any issues with xDebug. I’ve also used Xampp and iirc I did run into some slow down with it after a while, I couldnt’ find out why but sites would start out working fine then a couple of weeks later start to slow down with almost no changes to them at all.
